This is wildlife care on steroids! A message from Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes
Recently, Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes posted a message on behalf of our partners WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) - Australia, in support of Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital. Here's Jimmy in his own words.
"Hi, I’m Jimmy Barnes. Today I’m joining WWF-Australia to announce that Australia’s largest mobile wildlife hospital is now ready to hit the road.
This mobile hospital, the size of a semi-trailer, really is wildlife care on steroids. For many injured animals, the immediate, high level treatment they receive will be the difference between life and death.
Thanks to supporters like you, the Byron Bay Mobile Wildlife Hospital is ready to rock in an instant to provide critical on-location veterinary care to wildlife in need, in the event of another devastating bushfire.
WWF-Australia has kitted out this unique Aussie rig with essential equipment and supplies to get the mobile hospital on the road, ready for the summer. This wouldn’t have come about without incredible donors like you getting on board and chipping in during the catastrophic bushfire crisis. WWF has been able to support the purchase of cutting edge X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, and anaesthetic machines, critical care cages, and a rapid test kit to check koalas for disease.
Watching the impact last year’s bushfires had on our native animals broke mine and Jane’s heart, as it did many Australians.
Right then I felt powerless to do anything in the face of such terrible loss. But now, I’m excited to be partnering with WWF-Australia as they work to Regenerate Australia.
I’m writing to you because every Aussie has a part to play as we rise from the ashes of the bushfires, and get to work.
