Dr Ken Henry

Former Secretary to the Treasury, economist, public policy expert and passionate wildlife conservationist Dr Ken Henry AC is the Founding Chair of Wildlife Recovery Australia, the parent organisation of Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital, and a platform for national growth in wildlife hospitals and specialist sanctuaries. Dr Henry has made significant contributions to Australia’s macro-economic policy, Australia’s response to the Global Financial Crisis, tax reform and climate policy, recommending a National Emissions Trading Scheme in 2004. Ken and his wife Naomi have dedicated extensive time and effort into the preservation of Northern Hairy-nosed wombats, one of three wombat species in Australia, and one in imminent danger of extinction. Ken’s Chairmanship provides valuable guidance, experience and expertise to WRA’s aim to contribute to the long term systemic improvement of Australia’s wildlife care policies.
