BVSC (HONS), PHD

Amber’s passion has always been wildlife conservation and has built her career around conserving Australia’s unique native animals. Amber has been a wildlife veterinarian at the world renowned Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital since 2006 and is well known for her specialty in the treatment and rehabilitation of koalas, and her PhD work on sea snake disease and pathology. In addition to her clinical work, Amber is also an integral part of numerous research projects through the University of Queensland’s Koala Ecology Group, working to improve conservation outcomes for koalas in Queensland and NSW.

In her pursuit to conserve wildlife, Amber also uses her talent as a wildlife artist to reach people through beautifully illustrated drawings of Australian and International wildlife, and donates many of her images and artworks to raise funds for wildlife conservation. In her sideline career as an artist, Amber has had her art displayed in the Thames & Hudson book ‘Koala’, exhibited at the Conservation and Ecology Centre of Cape Otway and is an exhibiting member of the Queensland Wildlife Artist Society who holds numerous exhibitions annually in Queensland.

Amber’s most recent artistic contribution to wildlife conservation has been to draw the logo for our very own Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital.
